Violet Hunter has been making butter on the family dairy farm for many years. Watch Violet churn cream into delicious country butter before enjoying it with homemade brown bread. Violet will also make a seaweed & wild garlic butter that we will then add to freshly shucked local Sligo Bay oysters from Wild Atlantic Oysters and bake with delicious Irish cheese. Enjoy baked oysters and learn about Sligo’s oyster history dating back 6000 years ago from the Sligo Oyster Experience. You can sit back and relax tasting oysters while watching a video of Violets son Glenn Hunter working on the oyster farm. Take home freshly churned butter for you to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Taking place in Sligo town. This event is part of Taste the Island.
